Expandable Graphite SYZR

This halogen free flame retardant has a wide range of expansion temperature and can be used for foams, paints, resins, rubber and more.
Expandable Graphite is a stratiform graphite and contains acids between each stratums. Once it’s heated, acid generates gas and stratiforms are expanded. This expanded stable structure puts off a fire by cutting off the supply of air. (LOI is 28 by adding 15% in Polypropylene)

Advantages:

  • Can be expanded by heat to make non-flammable stable layer
  • Starting expansion temperature is 150 to 300 C
  • Can be used with other flame retardants such as Zinc Borate or Ammonium Polyphosphate
  • Halogen free
  • Heavy metal free
  • Various grades with different particle sizes, expansion temperatures and expansion volumes available

Applications:

E.G. has been used as non-halogen flame retardant in various applications such as

  1. Polyurethane foam
  2. EVA foam
  3. Roofing
  4. Non-flammable paint
  5. Construction materials
  6. Sealings
  7. Polyolefin resin
  8. Thermoplastic resin
  9. Thermoset resin
  10. Rubber
